From Monday 26 October to Sunday 1 November, we invite you to embrace the spirit of Hellenism as we honour our rich cultural heritage, celebrate time-honoured traditions, and bring the Greek and wider Canberra community together through a vibrant program of events and experiences.
OXI Day Hellenic Presidential Guards (Evzones)
Wednesday 28 October, 6:30pm

As part of Greek Week and OXI Day 2026 commemorations, Canberra will welcome the Hellenic Presidential Guard (Evzones) to the nation’s capital for the first time in a historic visit on Wednesday, 28 October.
Throughout the day, the Evzones will take part in commemorative and cultural events at St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Australian Parliament House, and the Australian War Memorial, before marching into the Hellenic Club of Canberra at 6:30pm for a special Guard of Honour.
The celebrations will culminate with an celebratory OXI Day Dinner at Kivotos (see booking details below), bringing Canberra’s Greek community together to commemorate this significant day in Greek history and celebrate the enduring connection between Greece and Australia.

Kivotos: Dinner with the Evzones

Be part of a truly special evening as we welcome the iconic Evzones to the Hellenic Club for their First Official visit to Canberra, followed by a delicious three-course dinner in Kivotos.
Witness the unforgettable Evzones march as they make their way down Matilda Street and into the Club. Steeped in history and tradition, this proud Greek ceremonial march is a spectacular sight and a rare experience not to be missed.
Arrive at the Club by 6:15pm to secure the best viewing spot and experience the excitement of the Evzones' arrival. You will also have the opportunity to take photos with the Evzones and create lasting memories of this unique occasion.
At 7:30pm, make your way to Kivotos as the Evzones make their grand entrance to officially commence the evening's celebrations.
The dinner will commemorate 28 October National Day (OXI Day) and will be attended by distinguished guests, including the Greek Ambassador, Cyprus High Commissioner, Archbishop Makarios and Bishop Athenagoras making this a memorable and prestigious event for our community.
